01 / BIO
Kyle Firlik was born and raised just outside Detroit, Michigan. He started playing guitar in seventh grade and began writing his own songs as a sophomore in high school.
That same year, while visiting Michigan State University, Sarah Badiee (a friend of Kyle's older sister from college) recorded his first EP, The 339 Sessions, out of 339 Spartan Avenue.
At Michigan State University he was guitarist and lead singer for the jam band influenced Black Jack Persia, alongside Jesse Broman, Matthew Naughton (a friend since second grade), and Rob Toth.
Kyle, Matt, and Jesse later joined forces with Sarah Badiee and Sarah Owens to form the electronic rock outfit Naiswan. Kyle met Sarah Owens while signing a contract with her organization, Pop Entertainment, to play a local band spotlight concert at the MSU Ballroom.
The band relocated to Los Angeles, where they released their debut EP, celebrating the release alongside Fat Lip of The Pharcyde.
Kyle and Sarah Owens later moved to Portland, Oregon, where they kept writing and playing, and met Chance Diaz, an exceptional drummer, musician, producer, and engineer who plays drums on "Not Going Easily," a track from the upcoming Dust & Specks EP.
Now married (Sarah Firlik), the two have moved back to the Midwest, to southwest Michigan, to grow their family. Still celebrating the love of music that brought them together in the first place.
